Lindsay Heights Housing Initiative
Walnut Way acquired and began rehabbing two-four unit foreclosed houses on 16th Street. Contractors for plumbing, roofing, drywall and masonry live in Lindsay Heights. The 8 units have been beautifully restored with both aesthetic features such as hardwood floors and renewed woodwork and energy efficient features, including heat and water systems, stove and refrigerator.
The Housing Initiative is in full operation. Long term goals are:
- Stabilize and enhance our neighborhoods through quality, energy efficient, affordable housing owned by area residents.
- Positively impact neighborhood economy by providing jobs and contracts with individuals and local businesses, encouraging spending within the community.
- Accumulate funds and support for acquisition and rehabilitation of foreclosed or troubled properties.
We are grateful to the wonderful craftsmen of roofers, masons, painters and carpenter. Our supports are Hudson Family Foundation, City of Milwaukee, Wells Fargo, WeEnergies, the Joseph and Vera Zilber Family Foundation, City of Milwaukee and Social Development Commission, Connie Pukaite, and John Bach. We are so thankful for their amazing contributions to neighborhood success.
If you are interested in renting, purchasing or would enjoy viewing the house, please call Brandi Wilks at (414) 378-3932 for an appointment.
