Lindsay Heights Report to Community June 6, 2012

Our semi-annual Lindsay Heights Report to Community (R2C) is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, 2012 5pm-8pm at North Division High School. R2C brings together all the amazing folks who live and serve in the Lindsay Heights community. During our gathering, we learn what has been accomplished in the past 6 months and what to look forward to in the future. Please see the summary below of the last R2C event held on November 21, 2011.

Growing Healthy Soil for Healthy Communities

The Growing Healthy Soil for Healthy Communities (GHSHC) program at Walnut Way is working with partners: Sixteenth Street Community Health Center, Medical College of Wisconsin and Symbiont,  to study the soil in our neighborhood to see if lead is present.  Lead in the soil can possibly harm kids under age 6 playing in the yard or eating vegetables grown in contaminated soil.

Walnut Way Gardens to Market Program Starts Soon!

The signature Walnut Way Gardens to Market (G2M) Teen Internship program will begin in late June. We look forward to the 6th year of programming with neighborhood youth. Teens will work in the garden gaining skills in urban agriculture and professional development. You can find our teens at Fondy Market on Saturday selling the produce they grew in the Walnut Way gardens. To learn more about the G2M program please contact David Johnson at (414)264-2326 or david@walnutway.org
