We are kicking off the Spring season with Saturday breakfast and learning in the gardens. Join us at our Growing Healthy Soils for Healthy Communities Workshop – Growing Greens, Saturday, April 1st, from 10:00am – noon at Walnut Way! Our family friendly monthly workshops focus on safe gardening practices, composting, soil sampling, and special topics (April topic -growing greens/cool crops). During breakfast we’ll learn about the importance of lead in soil and health dangers facing of lead facing our community. Then, we’ll head outdoors to learn in the gardens about how to collect soil samples to test your soil for lead and nutrients; composting 101; and growing greens and cool weather crops. If you have children, youth activities are available. Please contact us in advance to RSVP children.
This workshop is brought to you by a research project. We ask participants to complete two brief surveys. By participating, you are eligible to have your soils tested for free for lead and nutrient levels.
