It’s official, we’re the newest partner in the Institute for Sustainable Communities’ (ISC) Partnership for Resilient Communities! Over the next 14 months, we’ll be working to implement projects rooted in community resilience. Joining the project will help us support and expand our environmental initiatives. Not only will this grant provide us with financial and technical support to install solar and green infrastructure, it will also help us to develop Walnut Way as an environmental tour destination. Since 2000, neighbors in Lindsay Heights have been transforming vacant lots into productive gardens and public spaces. Our environmental initiatives have grown into year-round landscaping employment in our Blue Skies Landscaping Program. Our landscapers are becoming skilled in green installations that are reducing stormwater pollution in Milwaukee. Through this funding, we will be able to install four solar PV systems in the community. It will also help us fund at least one green infrastructure project in the neighborhood.
