Walnut Way and the Fondy Food Center teamed up for autumn abundance with Harvest Day, on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Harvest Day reached new heights and truly demonstrated this year’s theme, the Art of Community. Together, we celebrated the abundance that working collectively creates!
In partnership with Fondy Food Center, the event was held at Fondy Park adjacent to the Fondy Farmers Market. The park holds a strong example of our mission of environmental stewardship, civic engagement, and economic prosperity in action. Our Blue Skies Landscaping helped to install the park which mitigates stormwater from our sewer system helping to protect Lake Michigan! The project, coordinated by City of Milwaukee’s Home GR/OWN Initiative, provided employment opportunities for our team to take part in community revitalization.
Fondy park was fully bloomed on Harvest Day and filled with community members and visitors from afar. Even the bees joined us from the park’s flowering rain garden. Live bands like Adekola Adedapo and Friends played vibrant music and crowds looked on in amazement as The Milwaukee Flyers tumblers flew through the air. Hot food aromas filled the air from local food vendors. The Kids Zone was fluttering with STEM activities and butterfly face paintings.
