About the Role

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Implement HR procedures and processes ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Performs all tasks related to hiring, process new hire paperwork, and employee performance reviews, and development, terminations.

  • In collaboration with leadership, develop retention strategy, maintains employee records.

  • Updates and maintains departmental forms, policies and procedures, handbooks on shared drives including job description and disseminate to staff.

  • Upholds and agrees to act with integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of employees, contractors, volunteers, and resident files both paper and electronic.

  • Assists with surveys and gathering statistical data for reports and surveys.

  • Research, explore and present new opportunities for compensation and benefits, performance reviews, software to maintain efficiencies with payroll, data collection, and surveys.

  • Create professional development and training opportunities, and track staff performance evaluations.

  • Ensure HR goals are aligned with Walnut Way mission, vision, and strategic goals.

  • Coordinate and manage payroll using the Intuit Payroll system.

  • Collaborate with department leaders on employee relations, issues including conflict resolution

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, organizational development, business or related area PREFERRED but not required; A combination of education and work-related experience will also be considered  



  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 


  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite 



  • Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management, safety, hiring and employee relations; able to apply these strategies and practices in compliance with employment regulations 



  • Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusion, collaboration and teamwork



  • Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning 

About Walnut Way Conservation Corp


Walnut Way Conservation Corp. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit neighborhood organization founded in 2000 by Lindsay Heights residents to reclaim and redevelop the economic health and vitality of their community.

In the years since, Walnut Way and its partners have rolled out a series of successful and innovative programs and initiatives addressing the neighborhood’s most pressing economic, environmental, and health issues.

Walnut Way is located inside a renovated house situated in the residential neighborhood of Lindsay Heights. Grounded in grass-root principles, Walnut Way properties extend additional blocks and include an orchard, carryout cafe, print shop, and construction and landscaping business.

The ideal candidate will typically work Monday - Friday with occasional nights and weekends as needed.
