Dear Friends, My name is Angela Kingsawan and I have recently been welcomed into Walnut Way in the role of Urban Agriculture Coordinator. I’m excited to have the opportunity to interact with community members while doing something I’m passionate about within the city that I love. My family has called Milwaukee home for several generations..
The 2019 growing season has begun. Thanks to our hoophouse and hydroponic systems, we can grow many crops year round. This week we will sell turnips, kale, and lettuce at the market. Visit us at Fondy Park and Market each Saturday where Walnut Way’s Growing Youth Leadership interns will sell produce and canned goods.
Walnut Way is hiring a limited term position to supervise our Growing Youth Leadership Program (GYL). GYL is Walnut Way’s signature summer teen internship program that engages Lindsay Heights teens in intensive urban agriculture education, leadership development, and job training.
Our much awaited sweet and juicy peaches are finally here! We’re harvesting around the clock to get ready for our annual peach sale. Please join us at the Walnut Way Center on Wednesday and Thursday, 5pm-6pm for peaches by the case.
