National Partnership for Resilient Cities Renewed
The 2019 Partnership for Resilient Cities planning grant will allow Walnut Way to engage Northside Milwaukee residents in the planning and design of at least two community-embedded street and stormwater runoff diversion projects that will mitigate urban flooding in Milwaukee’s combined sewer system. The project sites will represent an estimated total of five acres that are presently paved or water impermeable.

The 2019 growing season has begun. Thanks to our hoophouse and hydroponic systems, we can grow many crops year round. This week we will sell turnips, kale, and lettuce at the market. Visit us at Fondy Park and Market each Saturday where Walnut Way’s Growing Youth Leadership interns will sell produce and canned goods.

City of Milwaukee, Walnut Way Join Forces on Green Infrastructure Projects with New National Partner, Institute for Sustainable Communities
Walnut Way has been invited to participate in the Institute for Sustainable Communities’ Partnership for Resilient Communities (PRC). City of Milwaukee ECO Department partnered on the application to increase green infrastructure projects. This award supports community-driven resilience projects. ISC will provide Walnut Way with customized technical assistance, access to ISC’s large and growing national network of sustainability and resilience practitioners, connections with peer organizations, and strategic funding to expand and accelerate our work on energy and water resilience.
