Duties and Essential Responsibilities: Customer Satisfaction Greet each customer with a warm and inviting smile and welcome. · Strive to exceed expectations with each of our customers, building rapport with each interaction; use customers' names whenever possible. Become knowledgeable about products in order to make recommendations that meet our customers’ needs. Maintain sense of urgency while keeping attention to details during peak hours Delivering Quality Prepares food items as directed while following health, safety and sanitization guidelines Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the cafe. Ability to re-stock all items and move effortlessly between active team members Completing inventory count daily of food, plasticware, disposables and cleaning supplies. Picks up and/or ensure delivery of inventory. Operate POS system with efficiency and ease. Safety & Sanitation Sets up station according to café guidelines. Cleans and maintains stations while practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills. Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment and knives in station. Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, coolers, and all storage areas. Ability to manage safe use of chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing · Cleaning and organizing duties are completed accurately and on time. Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities · Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects. Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs. Make adjustments and minor repairs. Requirements Qualifications: Must be 16 years of age or older Have/Maintain a Valid Driver’s License Exceptional customer service skills Ability learn and operate the point of sales operations Strong verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to work well in a team Willingness to follow company policies and procedures Well poised in fast paced environment. < Back Yolanda Odufuwa EJII Program Assistant - Consultant Yolanda Odufuwa is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee’s Masters of Sustainable Peacebuilding Program. During her studies, Yolanda served as a fellow with the MKE Black Grassroots Network for Health Equity, a policy intern with Leaders Igniting Transformation, and contributed to the #LiberateMKE campaign with the African American Roundtable. These experiences deepened their commitment to social justice, systems change, racial equity, and political engagement. Turning Energy Burden Into Energy Power: Walnut Way vs. the Old Rules For a long time, no neighborhood‑based group in Milwaukee was intervening in utility rate and infrastructure cases, even though those cases were quietly shaping people’s bills, homes, and health. Walnut Way stepped in when others were not in the room, taking on multiple complex dockets at once and learning a system that had been built for utilities, big customers, and lawyers—not for residents in drafty houses facing shutoff notices. Against that backdrop, the intervenor support cases 1‑IC‑569 and 1‑IC‑577 became a major victory. They secured funding so that community participation in cases like 6630‑CG‑140 and 6630‑TE‑113 was not just symbolic, but backed by legal and technical muscle, with Walnut Way still leading from lived experience. These wins proved that a neighborhood organization could both carry its community’s stories and unlock the resources needed to fight on equal footing, opening the door for other frontline groups to follow. Data‑center tariff 5‑CE‑157 345‑kV “Grid Forward – Central Wisconsin” transmission line and rebuild (MISO LRTP Project 6). Raise questions about need, cost, and clean‑energy alternatives, centering statewide equity, land impact, and climate goals. Grid Forward 345‑kV line 1‑IC‑569, 1‑IC‑577 Intervenor compensation dockets that fund community participation in cases like 6630‑CG‑140 and 6630‑TE‑113. Secure resources so community can show up with legal and technical experts in these complex PSC cases. Position Summary Walnut Way Overall Responsibilities: The Community Wealth Building (CWB) Manager plays a pivotal role in facilitating economic well-being for the Lindsay Heights neighborhood. This role entails three primary responsibilities: 1) collaborating with residents and organizations to mobilize the skills, passions, and talents of the community; 2) oversee digital literacy programs implementation; and 3) managing and promoting social enterprises and programs that support wealth-building activities. Through these efforts, the CWB Manager will drive neighborhood economic growth and connect residents with valuable opportunities and resources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Community Wealth Building Manager: Share the CWB story and advocate for the asset-based approach to economic development with residents, community organizations, and partners. Engage residents and organizations in the Community Wealth Building process, ensuring active participation and buy-in. Collaborate with community partners to co-create and connect residents to opportunities and resources for economic empowerment. Attend weekly CWB team meetings, providing updates on activities, challenges, and outcomes. Analyze asset data using established tools and systems to inform decision-making. Other duties as assigned. Digital Literacy Program: Oversee the design, implementation, and management of digital literacy programs aimed at empowering residents with essential digital skills. Collaborate with community partners to provide digital literacy workshops, training sessions, and support services. Ensure the digital literacy program aligns with Community Wealth Building goals by promoting technology as a tool for economic empowerment. Track and evaluate the effectiveness of the digital literacy programs, providing reports and insights for continuous improvement. Increase awareness of digital literacy programs through social media, community outreach, and partnerships with local organizations. Create a variety of program formats to accommodate different learning needs: o Short workshops (1-2 days) for specific skills o Multi-week courses (6-8 weeks) for comprehensive digital literacy o Ongoing drop-in sessions for personalized support. Establish cohort-based learning groups to nurture peer support and accountability. Incorporate hands-on, project-based learning to make skills immediately applicable. Communication & Coordination: Develop and implement processes and procedures for coordinating and promoting wealth-building activities and resident engagement. Coordinate all aspects of Community Wealth Building activities, including neighborhood ambassadors, workshops, and events aimed at resident empowerment. Effectively communicate opportunities and success stories through digital platforms and community outreach. Other Duties/Responsibilities: Ability to work with diverse populations and a variety of neighborhoods. Experience developing residents and connecting them to the community. Up to 35 hrs. per week. Flexibility to work - days, evenings, and weekend shifts. Supervisory Responsibility: This position is not required to supervise staff. Requirements Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to creatively influence, market, and promote social enterprises. Ambitious and innovative in approaching community development and sales growth. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and across various neighborhoods. Experience managing social media, marketing, and promotional campaigns. Knowledge or experience in securing contracts, specifically within educational institutions (MPS, private, choice, charter schools). Experience with food safety regulations and coordinating vendors or entrepreneurs in compliance with health department standards. Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary. Self-starter capable of working independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, it will typically be in an office setting. Frequently required to operate a computer and file and retrieve written documents. The physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching and bending. The positions can be mentally challenging.
